Committee Opportunities at the Traverse City Elks Lodge
There are numerous committees at the Traverse Elks Lodge that help lead the lodge in it’s various activities. Joining, or leading, a committee is a great way to volunteer and help serve the great Traverse City community.
Americanism
The Americanism Committee implements the patriotic activities planned by the Grand Lodge and cooperate with local organizations to promote patriotic community endeavors.
Bell Ringing
The Bell Ringing Committee works with the Salvation Army to organize, solicit participation and carry out bell ringing in front of local stores during the Christmas holiday season.
Blood Drive
The Blood Drive Committee plans and executes Blood Drives at the Lodge as frequently as possible.
Drug Awareness
This committee develops and conducts drug awareness programs for the Lodge.
Elks National Foundation
The Elks National Foundation committee solicits donations for this Elks Charity.
Flag Day
Led by the Leading Knight, this committee makes all preparations for the Elks annual Flag Day ceremony on June 14th. This committee follow the principles laid out by the Grand Lodge.
Golf Outing
This committee plans and puts on our annual golf-outing benefit. They are also responsible for putting on the annual inter-Lodge Golf Tournament
Government Relations
The purpose of the Elks Government Relations Program is to help our Order’s right to exist as a private organization and to establish positive relationships with their legislators – local, state and national.
Hoop Shoot
An annual competition for boys & girls between 8 & 13 years of age shooting free-throws. Volunteers are needed for set-up, promotion, event assistance and tear-down.
Long Range Planning
This committee works in conjunction with the officers and trustees to establish future improvements for the Lodge and Club.
Public Relations
This committee works to tell the stories of Elk’s activities & programs of the Lodge to gain favorable media coverage and create a greater interest in joining the Order.
Scholarship
This committee reviews applications for the Most Valuable Student Scholarship Program and selects those that merit consideration at the district and state level.
Veterans Committee
The goal of this committee is make the Elks the most visible force in voluntary service to our Veterans.
Youth Activities
The multitude of activities for young people offered by the Elks is coordinated by the Youth Activities Committee. The goal is to provide a wholesome and character-building environment for the boys and girls of the community.
